30-Day Personal Growth Challenge: A Step-by-Step Guide to Transform Your Life

A new month and year is right around the corner. This is the time of year when we all usually set goals and New Year’s resolutions to try and create new habits to better ourselves, but I want to propose something different this year.

I’m personally wanting to do a 30-day Personal Growth Challenge to kick off my new year. Small and easily actionable habits are the way to go when building new habits and building discipline, so I’m adamant I’m going to start the year as I mean to go on!

A 30-day personal growth challenge consists of 30 different activities that create new mindsets, form new habits, and improve yourself in a holistic way. It only takes 21 days to form a habit, so by doing this challenge for 30 days, you’ll get yourself into the swing of doing little nuggets of self-improvement every day, and before you know it, you’ll be the woman of your dreams!

In this challenge, I’ve come up with a range of activities that:

  • Build awareness
  • Expand your mindset
  • Help you take action
  • Help you reflect and grow

So if you feel like you truly want to step into your glow-up era, read on and join the challenge!

Day 4: Take a personality or strengths assessment online (How can you build on a foundation when you don’t know what your foundation is?)

Day 5: Pinpoint and turf out one limiting belief that you hold

Day 6: Declutter a space in your house, it could be drawers, under your bed, or even your wardrobe

Day 7: It’s time to reflect on the week — what did you learn about yourself or in general?

Week 2: Expanding Your Mindset and Learning New Things

Day 8: Start a self-help book or listen to a podcast about personal growth

Day 9: Step outside your comfort zone (e.g. striking up a conversation with a stranger, or going for lunch by yourself)

Day 10: Write down at least 10 things you’re grateful for

Day 11: Watch a few TED Talks on a topic you’re curious about

Day 12: Practice saying “no” to something that doesn’t serve you — boundaries are the new black!

Day 13: Learn something new for 30 minutes (e.g. a language, a dance, a recipe, a hairstyle! Anything that tickles your fancy.)

Day 14: Try adding something new to your morning or evening routine element. If you don’t have one, start one!

Week 3: Learning to Take Action

Day 15: Do one act of kindness for someone else, pay for their coffee, give them a lift, or walk their dog. Think of something that’ll mean a lot to the person and do it

Day 16: Write a letter to your future self

Day 17: Identify one habit you want to break and plan a small step to start to achieve it

Week 4: Reflecting on the Month and Growing

Day 22: Write a list of lessons you’ve learned this month

Day 23: Spend 30 minutes organizing your finances. Create a budget and look carefully at your incomings and outgoings

Day 24: Reach out to someone who inspires you and ask for advice on what it is about them that inspires you, so you can implement a little of that sparkle into yourself

Day 25: Revisit those top 5 values that you wrote at the beginning of the month — are your actions aligned with them? If not make a plan to align yourself with these things more

Day 26: Try a digital detox for a few hours. And I was going to say for a few hours, but you should dive in the deep end and try a whole 24 hours!

Day 27: Write down 3 affirmations that align with where your life is right now and repeat them throughout the day. Another really powerful way to recite them to yourself is doing it in the mirror

Day 28: Get into that creative flow state and create something! Paint, bake, do a pottery class, do your makeup, or make a project to display in your house. Whatever gets your creative juices flowing — go for it!

Day 29: Reflect on one major goal you want to pursue after the challenge now that you’ve got this boost of newfound discipline and motivation!

Day 30: Celebrate your growth by setting intentions for the future and mapping out a plan to reach them

From Challenge to Change: What’s Next

We all know that building any habit takes time, discipline, and baby steps, so a 30-day personal growth challenge is a small and digestible way to help you get there.

Look at each day like a building block that brings you one step closer to your goals and the person you want to be! And why stop there? Why not do another 30-day challenge with a different set of self-improvement activities? You could even do themed challenges and you could try things like:

  • Fitness challenge
  • Reading challenge
  • Self-love challenge
  • Healthy eating challenge
  • Mindfulness challenge

The list goes on! But improving yourself is a hard and lengthy process so doing it in bitesize chunks like a 30-day challenge is a sustainable way to getting to those self-improvement goals.
